2. Overview of Data Processing

We take the protection of your personal data seriously. This website is designed to minimize data collection. Specifically:

  • We do not use cookies.
  • We do not use any analytics or tracking services (no Google Analytics, no Matomo, no Meta Pixel, etc.).
  • We do not load external scripts, fonts, or tracking pixels that automatically transmit your IP address to third parties. All fonts and assets are self-hosted.
  • We do not use social media plugins or embeds.

3. Hosting and Server Log Files

This website is hosted by Cloudflare, Inc. (101 Townsend St, San Francisco, CA 94107, USA). Cloudflare is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF).

When you visit this website, the hosting provider may automatically collect and store information in server log files that your browser transmits. This may include:

  • IP address (anonymized where possible)
  • Date and time of the request
  • Requested URL and referrer URL
  • Browser type and version
  • Operating system

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in ensuring the stable and secure operation of the website).

Retention: Server log files are automatically deleted after 30 days.

Retention: Contact form data is retained for 6 months, unless a longer retention period is required by law or a contractual relationship is established.

Form Processing

Contact form submissions and content access emails are processed on our own infrastructure. Data is stored in an encrypted database on a server operated by us in Germany. No third-party processors are involved in form data handling.

Content Access Emails

Some technical articles on this website require an email address to access. When you submit your email to unlock gated content:

  • Data collected: email address, page URL
  • Purpose: granting access to gated technical content
  • Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent via checkbox)
  • Storage: Encrypted database on our own server in Germany
  • Retention: 6 months, then automatically deleted

A syncopio-unlocked key is stored in your browser's localStorage to remember your access. This contains no personal data and is technically necessary (§ 25(2) TDDDG).

5. External Communication Services

Our contact page provides links to the following third-party communication services. No data is transmitted until you voluntarily click a link and interact with the respective service.

WhatsApp

We offer the option to contact us via WhatsApp, operated by Meta Platforms Ireland Ltd. (4 Grand Canal Square, Dublin 2, Ireland). WhatsApp messages are end-to-end encrypted. Meta may process metadata (e.g., phone number, timestamps) in the USA.

Meta is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) and additionally uses EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for international data transfers.

Microsoft Teams

We offer the option to contact us via Microsoft Teams, operated by Microsoft Ireland Operations Ltd. (One Microsoft Place, South County Business Park, Leopardstown, Dublin 18, Ireland). Microsoft may process data in the USA.

Microsoft is certified under the EU-US Data Privacy Framework (DPF) and additionally uses EU Standard Contractual Clauses (SCCs) for international data transfers.

Zeeg (Appointment Scheduling)

We use Zeeg (Zeeg GmbH, Germany) for appointment scheduling. Zeeg processes your data exclusively within the European Union. No international data transfer takes place.

Legal basis: Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR (your consent through voluntary use of these services). You are under no obligation to use any of these communication channels.

6. Local Storage

This website uses your browser's localStorage to store the following preferences:

  • syncopio-locale-dismissed — Records whether you have dismissed the language suggestion banner. Automatically expires after 30 days.
  • syncopio-unlocked — Records whether you have unlocked gated content by providing your email. Contains no personal data (value: "true").

This data is stored exclusively in your browser and is never transmitted to our servers.

Legal basis: § 25(2) TDDDG (Telekommunikation-Digitale-Dienste-Datenschutz-Gesetz) — technically necessary storage that is strictly required for the service explicitly requested by the user.

7. External Links and Social Sharing

Blog articles on this website include share links for Twitter/X and LinkedIn. These are standard outbound hyperlinks only — no scripts, tracking pixels, or social media widgets are loaded. Your browser does not contact these platforms until you actively click a share link.

8. Fonts

This website uses the fonts "Orbitron", "Space Grotesk", "Inter", and "JetBrains Mono", which are hosted locally on our servers. No connection to Google servers or any other third-party font provider is established when you visit this website. Your IP address is not transmitted to any font provider.
